About Us

Our History

AMCAnniston Medical Clinic is a multi-specialty group practice established in 1954. It originated as the Donald-Sarrell Clinic, an internal medicine group practice working out of a small corner house across the street from Anniston’s local hospital. As the community and the hospital grew, so did the clinic. Over the years, the building underwent multiple additions and renovations, as the clinic added doctors and diagnostic services. Today, Anniston Medical Clinic provides “one-stop shopping” for medical services for much of the Anniston community, occupying a 35,000-square-foot facility across from the entrance to Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center in Anniston.

Our Community

calhoun county alOur clinic serves a four-county area including Calhoun County, Clay County, Talladega County, and Cleburne County.

Calhoun County has 3 major cities, Anniston, Oxford, and Jacksonville. The main area hospitals are located in Anniston, while Oxford is the main business hub and Jacksonville houses Jacksonville State University.

In northeast Alabama, the 33-mile Chief Ladiga Trail is a regional playground that passes through welcoming towns and pastoral landscapes. Following a former CSX railroad corridor, the rail-trail is named for the Creek Indian leader who signed the 1832 Cusseta Treaty, surrendering the tribe’s remaining land in the area.

Anniston, AL

Anniston is the seat of Calhoun County, with a total county population of 111,616. Our total service area is approximately 180,000. Immediately to the south of Anniston is Oxford, a rapidly growing city of 15,000 benefiting from retail development surrounding the Quintard Mall and the primary local interchange for I-20 which connects Atlanta and Birmingham. Jacksonville, twelve miles to the north, is a college town (Jacksonville State University) of 12,000, excluding the students, with a public school system recognized as one of the best in the state. Piedmont, twelve miles farther north, is a rural community of 3,500, with a nationally recognized public school system.

The Anniston area enjoys excellent access to major cities and cultural activities. Atlanta is 70 miles to the East and Birmingham is 60 miles to the west, both along Interstate 20.
